SAFE AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING
SCDC supports safe and affordable housing and has a housing master project lease and joint partnership for housing development for both low to medium income tenants in Shiprock. Chaco River 1 Apartments has 24 units and Chaco River II Apartments has 70 housing units for eligible low income housing tax credits.

KEEPING SHIPROCK ROCKING AND CLEAN
SCDC sponsors community clean-up activities by calling on all citizens to help clean up the community.

SHIPROCK HEART AND SOUL
SCDC engages community members to participate in meaningful discussions to make our town a better place to live. Members of our community have a heart and soul that reflects what we love about this community and why we choose to live here.

COMMUNITY SPIRIT
SCDC promotes community spirit by sponsoring the first Christmas Tree Project to celebrate community spirit and bring people together.

DEMOLITION AND CLEAN UP OF OLD BIA BUILDINGS
SCDC and Shiprock Council Delegate Eugenia Charles-Newton obtained $3.2 Million congressional funding for the demolition and clean-up of the Shiprock Agency Compound involving more than 32 old BIA Buildings. The Shiprock Agency Compound area is prime land for community business development and the entire area is currently being cleared to promote business development and community quality of life.

HEALTHIER, SAFER,AND MORE VIBRANT COMMUNITY FOR QUALITY OF LIFE
Learning from the COVID experience, SCDC is in the approval process to obtain $1.3 Million ARPA FUNDS for the Tse' Bitai Park development which will promote a healthier community to prevent stress, obesity, heart disease, depression, and other illnesses.

NAVAJO NATION ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
SCDC supports and participates in the annual Navajo Nation Economic Summit to network and promote business development for our communities.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND PARTNERSHIPS
SCDC supports traditional farmers and the the Toohnii Binaneestˀąˀ Ałtaasˀéí Alliance (ToohBAA) to support Knowledge Keepers and Earth Defenders for food security and food sovereignty. SCDC is the fiscal sponsor for a Seed Bank and Agricultural Operations Center in Shiprock. SCDC also published a Naadą́ą Diné Sacred Corn Cookbook for the 2023 6th International Indigenous Corn Peoples Gathering in Shiprock, Diné Nation, New Mexico.
